This is a glowing ball of gases providing light and heat to the earth.
Mercury

Mercury is the closest to the Sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in the Solar System.
Venus

With it's thick atmosphere trapping the Sun's heat, Venus is the hottest planet.
Earth

This is the Third planet from the Sun and the only planet know to have life on it.
Mars

Mars is often called the red planet, this is the second smallest planet in the Solar System.
Asteroid Belt

Between Mars and Jupiter is a region of small, rocky, irregular, shaped bodies. they are to small to be called planets.
Jupiter
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/1/3/13133061/3887732.png)
Bigger than all the other planets combined, Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System.
Saturn
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/1/3/13133061/6259034.png)
This planet is surrounded by an Icy Ring system, but is otherwise quite similar to Jupiter. Saturn also has 14 rings around it. It's radius is about nine time the size of Earth's.
Uranus
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/1/3/13133061/4525122.png)
Compared to all the other planets, Uranus is tipped on its side.
Neptune
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/1/3/13133061/8584769.png)
Neptune is the furthest planet from the Sun, has Icy moons and is surrounded by a series of dark rings.
The formation of the Solar System

1. Shrinking Cloud
A cloud of gas stared to shrink under its own gravity.
2. Spinning Disc
As it shrank, the cloud heated up, flattened out and started to spin, forming a gigantic disc.
3. Combined Objects
Particles inside the disc stared to combine, forming small Moon-like objects.
