Radio Telescopes

This is the radio telescope, it is large so it can collect the long radio waves. can be used on earth, however the atmosphere makes it fuzzy. so of the radio waves get bounced of the ionosphere.
Infa-Red Telescopes

The infra-red telescope is placed in mountains to reduce the fuzziness from low lying vapor. They detect a lower energy than visible light so are usually emitted by cooler objects. Warm objects give off infra-red waves which our skin can detect. Infa-Red waves are given out by all warm objects. Our skin is sensitive to infra-red waves. over-exposure causes sunburn but not tanning
Optical Telescopes

The optical telescopes are use for use to look at space. It can see stars, galaxies and planetary nebula emit visible light
Ultraviolet Telescopes

The ultraviolet telescopes are position outside the atmosphere to get there they are launched by rockets this is because the atmosphere stops some or the wavelengths getting to earth. ultraviolet waves are emitted by the sun.
X-Ray Telescopes

The X-Ray telescope has to be placed high in the atmosphere of space at the most, this is because the waves can't get through the atmosphere. X-Rays are emitted by Dwarf stars, the Moon and Galaxy cluster. X-ray's have a very short wavelength and a very high frequency. They are highly penetrating. They are used to look for damaged bones inside the body.
Gamma-Ray Telescopes

The Gamma-Ray telescope is placed well outside the atmosphere to pick up the high energy high frequency waves. Gamma-Rays are emitted by high energy celestial bodies such as Supernova's, Black holes and Neutron stars.if used correctly they can be used to kill certain kinds of cancer, This procedure is called Radiotherapy. Incorrect exposure of dosage can damage living cells and cause cancer.
